There's nothing I love more than a good background technique. Especially one that allows creativity, and uniqueness. This, my friends, fits the bill 100%. Even if you use the same colours, you'll get a different look every single time.
All you need for this technique is a few Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, rubbing alcohol (I used 70%), and a Stampin' Mister, or spray bottle. You may want to open a window if you're doing more than a couple of these, because the air does get a little heavy with the scent.
Additional tools needed include a heat tool, but you can let them air dry if you like, some embossing powder, and a stamp set.
Let's get started!

This card is my favourite. Put the colour on the card in a circular motion at the top, then tilt the card before you spray with the rubbing alcohol. As it runs down the card, apply heat to speed the trying process and capture the runny look. I then adhered the vellum to Basic White cardstock trimmed it to 4 x 5 1/4", and stamped the sentiment from the Create with Friends set in Versamark ink, and heat embossed it in silver. The corners were rounded with the trio punch, and then layered onto Basic Grey cardstock with three basic rhinestones at the corner.

The beachy vibe of this card is perfect heading into summer. The vellum was adhered to Basic White cardstock, and then trimmed to 3 3/4 x 5" and layered onto Coastal Cabana cardstock. The sentiment from Create with Friends was stamped in Coastal Cabana and layered over Soft Suede ink. A single basic rhinestone dots the letter i.

For this one, the vellum was adhered to the Basic White, and then cut into four equal pieces. Two big daisies were punched out of Cherry Cobbler, and one from Basic White. The sprig punch was used on Garden Green to get the leaves. The circle is Bumblebee, as is the scalloped oval sentiment, which is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. Rhinestones finish off the look.

Two stamp sets combined for this one- Biggest Wish and Create with Friends. Colour was scribbled onto the vellum, and then the alcohol was dripped onto the paper and dried with the heat too. Once it was adhered to Basic White cardstock, it was trimmed to 3 3/4 x 4 1/2 and then sliced across at a diagonal to create the gap for the sentiment. | |

The red-orange drip technique is my favourite, with beach coming in second. Do I understand correctly that you are putting a same size piece of basic white behind the vellum before adhering it to the coloured layer?
ReplyDeleteYes- I ran the tape around the edges, placed the vellum on top of the white. Placing it on the white helps the colour pop. Because the vellum is opaque, the base colour would show through.
