Time flies!

I can't believe we are nearly at the end of September. This summer was a blur. Between packing up our house in Nova Scotia, driving half way across the country, staying with family, and doing some fairly major renos in our new house before we could move it, summer was over in the blink of an eye.

We are getting settled, slowly but surely. The kids have adjusted to their new school, and seem to really be loving its smaller size. They have both made friends and joined teams, which makes my heart happy. Hubby and I are plugging away at little projects that need to be done, and I have FINALLY had some time to play in my craft space. It's nice to have that break from the niggly little things that need to be done.

We've also added to our family... a bunny, who currently goes by Cotton, Cottontail, Stu, or Pooper. He's enjoying terrorizing the cats, and the dog (who is the only whippet on the planet who has lost the memo that they are prey-driven dogs) likes to sit and watch him.
He's fitting in quite nicely, and has gotten used to our level of crazy pretty quickly. He is fairly shock proof, which goes a long way in this house.

September is a busy month in this corner of the world. Other than back to school and back to routines (show me a mom who doesn't love THAT!), it's birthday month round 2.

My birthday was on the weekend, and husband's is this week. My parents' anniversary is on the same day, and my sister-in-law's is coming up, too. So, in addition to getting ready for some upcoming classes, I have been busy making cards for celebrations, too.

I love water colouring. It's so quick and (relatively) easy. I usually use my water colour pencils, and blender pen, but decided I wanted to have a go with my aqua painter. I am NOT skilled using it in any way, shape or form, but decided that I wanted to practice, because, after all, that's the only way to improve.
I filled the barrel with water, squeezed to get the water flowing, then dabbed the end on paper towel to get the excess off before I put it to the paper. That's where I usually have trouble. Getting a big blob of water on my project at the beginning. I have to say, I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I added hints of colour with my water colour pencils, but for the majority of the potting shed image, from the Garden Shed stamp set, I just picked up the Early Espresso ink that I used to stamp the image. I added a little sparkle to the window and a few of the metal elements like the pot, and the tools, with Wink of Stella.

I've got a few more minutes before I need to make supper. The boys are heading out the door to soccer tonight- need to make sure their bellies are full!

thanks for stopping by!
happy crafting!
