Bugs, bugs, bugs!
I was creating some background paper last week with the Beetles & Bugs stamp set, and happened to have my pencil sharpener on the paper to sharpen my watercolour pencils. All of a sudden, inspiration hit and I saw a magnifying glass on the paper. I've had a hard time getting started with this stamp set, but the longer I think about it, the more ideas I am having to use it.
Anyone who knows me will not be terribly surprised that I didn't use things as intended. In this case, it was the Build It! framelits dies.
The magnifying glass was lots of fun to make. With silver paper, I punched out a 1 1/4 inch circle, then centred a 1 1/2 inch punch over the already punched circle to create the frame. Then I punched a 1 1/2 inch circle of acetate and used adhesive to assemble it.
The handle of the magnifying glass was cut from the hammer in the Build It! thinlits dies. I just cut off the hammer head and taped it to the lens.
The frame for the sentiment came from the Stylish Stems framelits and the sentiment is from Balloon Adventures.
To assemble the card:
the bugs were stamped onto a 3 inch square piece of watercolour paper and coloured with the Stampin' Up watercolour pencils.
The Always Artichoke layer was cut at 3.25 x 3.25 and the Daffodil Delight paper was cut at 3.5 x 3.5.
The base layer is Chocolate Chip.
To adhere the magnifying glass to the card I used a double layer of foam tape on the handle and a tiny piece at the top of the lens.
I knew I hit a home run with this card when my five year old son saw it and proclaimed "That is SO COOL!"
