Combining holidays- why not?

Christmas is just over, and yet, I have Valentine's Day on my mind.

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, but my kids love giving cards to their school friends, so, every year, we head to the store and get them.
This year, I decided to change things up a bit. I was mulling over ideas yesterday, trying to figure out what I was going to do with their class cards this year. After all, I have some beautiful paper, amazing stamps and other fun things from the Occasions and Salabration catalogues that started this week.

I had decided that I would use Real Red cardstock, the sentiment from Cool Treats stamp set and the ladybug from Beetles & Bugs. Then I started thinking about other paper I have... and remembered the Candy Cane Lane paper from the holiday catalogue.

I still had a few pieces left, and they match with Real Red, so I thought- why not? There's patterns in there that don't look Christmas specific, and I AM on a quest to use more of what I already have. So, this idea was born.

When I started playing with the cards, I decided that the ladybugs weren't right, but the Frozen Treats framelits dies would be PERFECT. The speckled paper has tiny Christmas trees on it, but you need to look close to notice them.

I love how they turned out, and I have 48 cards for the kids to hand out to their friends in under three hours (gotta love assembly line production!).

Here's the how to:

White cardstock cut to 2.75x4.25 (you'll get 8 out of each sheet)
patterned paper cut to 2.5x4
Real Red cardstock punched with a 2 inch punch
Crumb cake (for the cones)
scraps of patterned paper for the ice cream scoops and swirls
Tuxedo Black Memento ink for the sentiment
Frozen Treats thinlits dies
Cool Treats stamp set
On the back, I used the To and From out of the Tin of Tags holiday set.

I absolutely love the versatility of the Frozen Treats and Cool Treats coordinating set.
The set will be used for an upcoming class, and I can see it being used for party invitations, birthday cards, even a matching came for kids learning to count or learning colours.

Don't forget Saleabration is on right now- with every $60 Stampin' Up purchase, you'll be eligible for one FREE item from the Saleabration catalogue.  You can also earn more FREE items with a party, or by becoming a demonstrator. For more information, contact me today!

Happy crafting!
