New toys!

I've finally been able to play with the big box of goodies I ordered to preview the Occasions catalogue and the goodies from Sale-A-Bration (SAB) (which starts January 4).
One of my New Year's resolutions is going to be to actually send the cards I make- regardless if there's an occasion or not. It would brighten someone's day to get a card for no reason. It's always nice to get something other than bills!

I took advantage of some uninterrupted craft time this morning while hubby took the littles for a pre-Christmas errand. This card combines goodies from the new Occaisions catalogue, SAB and the regular catalogue.

This card also gave me the chance to play with the new watercolour pencils Stampin' Up is reintrocuding. I have to admit- I wasn't sure how I would like them- I am more of an ink and aquapainter girl, but I do love how easy they were to use- lighter or harder pressure leads to easy shading, and then using the blender pen gave the flowers just the look I was going after. Perfect! I have a feeling I will be using them a lot more.

On to the details:
 I stamped the centre flower with the black ink, then carefully cleaned it, and inked just the blossom part of the stamp and put it to paper on the left and right side of the main image to create a bigger flower head.

I coloured the flowers with Melon Mambo and the leaves with Old Olive watercolour pencils, then finished it with a blender pen. I also added a bit of shading with the Basic Grey pencil, but it's a little hard to see here.

The image was cut on my Big Shot, using the Stitched Shapes Framelit, and layered it on a slightly bigger circle of Island Indigo.  It was then layered on a piece of Whisper White, which was run through the Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

 Quick and easy project for you today- no cutting, no stamping, and you'll end up with a nice, large gift bag. Check out the video here. It'll take you about 10 minutes, and you'll be out the door with a unique bag in hand.  Supplies needed:  12 x 12 sheet of Designer Series Paper (Pansy Petals and In The Wild were used for the examples.) 12 Crafts of Christmas- Day 8 faux woodburing

  Welcome back! For today's project, I am going to show you a fun way to add some dimension to a monotone card. I'm using Nature's Beauty, Early Espresso ink, and paper from the In Good Taste paper pack. You'll also need a water brush, some ribbon and gems, if you'd like to bling up your project. The tag can be any length you like, but the maximum width for the punch I am using is 2 inches. You want to be sure your paper is fully dry before you attach it to the cardstock layer to prevent it from pulling up. Check out the video here. 12 Crafts of Christmas- day 6 recipe book

Wow. We're halfway through our 12 Crafts of Christmas already! Today, I have a sweet recipe book for you to give to a loved one. Envelope books are quick and easy, and can be used for a variety of things, including recipes, photos, mini scrapbooks, and more.  The Nothing's Better Than stamp set is the perfect one for this project, and, you can amp up your project using the coordinating dies.  For this project, you'll need envelopes, card stock, patterned paper, and adhesive. It really does come together quickly and easily once you stack the envelopes.  For the cover, simply measure your envelopes, and add 1/4 inch to the height and width of the cardstock, and then measure the spine to figure out the score line for that.  If your envelopes are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, with a 1/2 inch spine, your cardstock would be cut to 5 3/4x 9, and scored at 4 1/2, and 5.
